Where Do I Go When I Have No More Family and Friends to Ask???

May 11, 2011

I hear this all the time, “No one will have a party for me, I have asked everyone” or “No one on Facebook, who I thought were my friends, will have a party for me”, I have said these words to myself and it is very tough to get yourself out there. So what do you do now??

Well read this blog and I know you will be getting bookings coming to you, obviously using Facebook and twitter is a great way to contact the friends you already have, but if you are not getting people to your page you are limiting yourself to a select few people.

I posted a blog with regards to findaparty.co.uk and this is a great way to get noticed, even if your business is not listed, sending them a quick email will get you on the list for you and your recruits to add you details. You have to think big with advertising and not spending a lot of money is everyone’s wish. You can do this by advertising on hotfrog, vivastreet and also adding a FREE advert on Gumtree is you want to recruit is another great way of FREE advertising. List your business on Yell.com, even though I would suggest not signing up to add your details in the book, going online is a great way. Party Planners have a tough time advertising, as there are not many directories in the UK that specialise in a place that hostesses can find you, so hopefully the above will help you a lot.

Get yourself out there, I know that it is hard, but the more people who you talk, the more people know about your business. I wrote a blog about talking to one new person everyday about your business. Talk to your hairdresser, the crossing lady at your kids schools, the ladies in your local corner shop, EVERYONE. You will only need to mention your business once and give them a catalogue or business card and you will find that they contact you. If you run a prize draw, get them to fill in a form for you, this way you get to data capture but also able to contact them about your business to book a party. Go to Play Groups in the area and see if they will allow you to have a stand for hour, I am near a very large Royal Marines and all of the wifes life in the barracks, they have arranged a coffee morning which I attend and have found that this is a great way to meet people.

If you have time, arrange a coffee morning at a local cafe where you know mother’s go after dropping off the kids at school, see if you can have a stand there, or just go and hand leaflets and talk about your products to them. Even if you take a couple of samples in with you that is great.

FOR ALL THE COSMETICS CONSULTANTS:

Find local beauticians that are mobile (you can find these on netmums and other places for advertising) and see if they would like to use your products on clients to test them out! It’s a great way to get people to use your products on a day-to-day basis, it also means that you could recruit these people into your team as they would be able to do it themselves. Breaking one obstacle with another!!!!xx

FOR CANDLE CONSULTANTS:

Again you would be able to use the above in a different way, go to beauty centres/salons and see if they would like your candles on a trial basis for their beauty rooms, mention the benefits to the different types of candles that they can buy to help their clients. The clients will love them and what to know where they bought them from, so have some brochures and details left with them to pass on to their clients.

FOR JEWELLERY CONSULTANTS:

Have you contacted some fashion shows recently???? Getting a stand at a wedding show is hard and can be really expensive for you, but what you should do this offer to show the jewellery in the fashion show. This is a great way to get into the bride circle, but others at the event will be interested for themselves. Make sure after the show, you also go to all the stand holders and pass your details around, mentioning that you also do parties. WHat do you think???

I hope that these tips are able to get you started with looking at different avenues for your business?

What about childrens toys? I am struggling to get people interested as most of the ones I know work at least part if not full time?

Children’s toys are such a good thing to do in party plan, expecially with the baby boom of last year and seems to be continuing, that’s what a recession will do!
I will email you Sue will all the details that you need to get more people interested in your wonderful party plan business.
